  Application for Hospice & Palliative Care Federation of Massachusetts
2010 Annual New England Education Conference

The Education Committee of the Hospice & Palliative Care Federation of MA invites you to submit a workshop proposal for the 2010 Fall Education Conference. Last year, the conference attracted over 750 individuals from all over New England who share an interest in improving end-of-life care, including hospice and palliative providers, long term care facility staff, consultants in end-of-life care, and state agency staff.

You may submit a proposal on any of the topics below or on any topic that you feel would be of interest to our diverse audience. Workshop evaluations indicate that participants prefer specific information that will be useful in their practice especially innovations in patient and family care, new technologies and therapies, quality initiatives, solutions to management problems, ororganizational and environmental trends:

Access to care Health disparities at end of life
Advance care planning Human resources practices
Advances in practice IDT effectiveness
Bereavement/grief Leadership/management Legal concerns
Clinical communication   for patients, families or providers
Community outreach Non-pain physical symptom management
Complementary therapies Pain management
Cultural competency Pediatric palliative care
Disease-specific care:especially non-cancer Quality Assurance/Performance
  diagnosis   Improvement
End-of-life care in extended care facilities Regulatory and compliance
Ethics/ethical decision making Spiritual care
Family dynamics Volunteer management
Financial and reimbursement counseling Veterans End-of-Life Care
 

 

Each workshop is one hour and fifteen minutes long with no more than two presenters.  Accepted presenters will receive a complimentary registration for the conference for the day on which they are presenting.

 

 

As you complete your proposal, you may wish to keep in mind the criteria the Education Committee will use in selecting workshops:
Is the workshop topic innovative and/or relevant?
Is the time well-allocated and the workshop well-organized?
Does the presenter have appropriate and relevant speaking/teaching experience?
Are the learning objectives measurable and achievable?
Would there likely be significant interest in the session?

Presenters will be notified by June 12, 2010
